So erm, someone explain to me the difference Versus XIII holds towards XIII?

I love XIII, but this one seems "SUPER DARK AND EDGY" from what little I've looked at. I'm assuming it shares similar mythology as far as story lines go but is separate? I really don't know about Final Fantasy stuff.

at this point, not that much is known about Versus, but it IS known that it will definitely be the darkest FF yet. also, i don't think they turn into crystals either. but they do USE crystals for summoning and all that awesome shit Noctis does what w/ the 13 weapons he has and the teleporting he does.

other than that, i got nothing.
